Get that summer glow, Jersey'd out, and Celebrity Doppelganger

SUMMER GLOW GET THE LOOK: LUMINESS AIRBRUSH

So for the past few days I have been holed up in my apt. with a nasty cold. So what do you do when your sneezing non-stop, body aches, and you can't move? NOTHING. You watch TV and sit on the couch. So that's exactly what I've been doing. Unfortunately the NyQuil hadn't quite kicked in so I was flipping through the million infomercials on every single channel late night style. I did come across this gem of an infomercial though for Luminess Air brush makeup kit. I haven't bought it YET and wanted to speak with a professional makeup artist that I know-- if this is really the way to go. It makes sense that airbrushing would give you that perfect dewey natural glow.

Now, here is a little info about Luminess Air. It's an airbrush set that Hollywood makeup artists use on many celebriteis and actors and actresses. It comes with a single easy to use airbrush, and four colors of your chosen shade to place into the airbrush. You can get a 30 day trial for $29.99 but then after that you can pay anywher from $200 and up depending on which package you sign up for.

And by real I mean just your everyday Joe or Jane. No celebrities, no divas, just everyday people like you and me.

Still not convinced ? Here is a video-I think I'm going to give it a go.

And while you're getting a natural airbrushed look for your face mine as well give your body that perfect tan as well. But say no to tanning beds!! Instead pop into Glow tanning salon (located in Georgetown, between N and O ) for that perfect SPRAY tan. It will give you that natural sun-kissed look with out going overboard so you won't look like Snookie.

And speaking of well tanned people from Jersey, is it me or is it out of control how many "Jersey" shows there are out there right now. The magic first started with the kids from Jersey Shore on MTV.

Then the Style network got into the guido action with Jerseylicious

Bravo has had the Real Housewives of Jersey flipping tables for a few seasons

And now I see ads everwhere on the Oxygen network for Jersey Couture

I am offiically Jersey'd out. Enough already. Kapeesh?

"NEWSBABES" BASH FOR BREAST CANCER:
Join Markette and I tonight at The Ritz Carlton in Georgetown, as we talk to all the "Newsbabes" including our fave babe Angie Goff, to show support for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure. This event helps to bring awareness in friends, colleagues, viewers, and family about the importance of early detection. Last year's bash raised over $4,000 for breast cancer research and awareness initiatives. Don't miss out. Let's do everything we can to fight this battle! Thanks to all of our favorite news babes for making this event possible, raising the funds, and spreading the word, oh and updating us on the traffic, weather, and news!

BUDDAH BAR IN WASHINGTON DC:

The trendy Asian-inspired, Paris based international restaurant/nightlife sensation is slated to open the second week of May in the Convention Center/Capitol Hill corridor (455 Mass Ave.) If its anything like the one if Paris (which I went last year and loved every second of it) then Washington, D.C. is in for a real treat! The culmination of the scene, the food, and the music will make it one of the most popular hot spots to hit up. For M and I it only means one thing--eating!! Can't wait to give you the review and try out all the food and check out the scene. Stay tuned.

CELEBRITY DOPPELGANGER:
This week our celeb look alike is Sara "Heff" Sepphard from Reston, Virginia. Sara the Persian beauty, came in at 90% with her #1 celeb-- Ameesha Patel ( I had to look up who that was) She is an actress who stars in Bollywood films. Other celebs Paz, Vega (loved her in Spanglish) and Alyssa Milano. Who knew? So what do you think? How did the race recognition technology do?

Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Martinis, Nat's Park food tasting, and Celebrity Deoppelganger

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO: BUT WHAT DOES THAT REALLY MEAN?
Well let's be honest, for most of us it means consuming copious amounts of Coronas, and margaritas (with salt, extra lime) and trying to leave work a little early so we can head over to our favorite mexican restaurant. Which hey, if you love tequila and tacos like me, this may just be one of your favorite days of the year. But the real reason we celebrate Cinco de Mayo or the 5th of May (if you couldn't figure that out then you need to seriously brush up on your Spanish) is to commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Contrary to what most people think, it is NOT Mexico's Independence Day. While Cinco de Mayo has limited significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. And to show my mexican pride (Ok I'm not mexican, but I lived there for three years, so that counts) I leave you with the best recipe you will ever have for a Mexican Martini. Follow closely and enjoy!

  • 2 oz. Tequila – Use a good silver tequila. (I prefer aged tequilas too for an oakier taste so you can use a reposado or anejo tequila as well)
  • 1 1/2 oz. Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
  • 2 oz. Lime Juice. Don’t use a mix for this drink. Sweet and Sour will ruin it.
  • 1 oz. Orange Juice.
  • 1 splash Sprite
  • 1 splash olive juice – or more to taste.
  • Jalapeno stuffed olives!

How To Make It: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake it and strain it into a BIG cocktail glass with a salted rim. Spear a few jalapeno stuffed olives and garnish the drink. Serve it up.This is a really delicious drink that packs quite a punch. You can experiment until you get what you feel is the right blend of flavors. Certain people I know like it with a LOT of olive juice. That variation of the drink we call the Dirty Mexican. But use these guidelines when experimenting:

  • Use good tequila
  • NEVER use sweet and sour
  • Jalapeno stuffed olives really pimp the drink out.
  • Glass: Big Cocktail glass
