Fashion Fights Poverty, Oscar comes to DC, and Pizza Pick

FASHION FIGHTS POVERTY:

Fashion Fights Poverty is announcing their release of its "Dress Responsibly Lookbook." A yearly catalogue, which this year, has been transformed into a quarterly publication showcasing recent trends and progress in fighting poverty.

Last year Markette and I got a first hand look at some of the eco friendly fashions and designers at the Fashion Fights Poverty fashion show. We spoke with models, designers, board members and the founder of FFP as they all explained how they are helping the community by showcasing and demonstrating the power of using ethical means and materials in the fashion industry. One of our favorite local designers Aidah Fontenot talked to us firsthand about what it takes to create eco friendly designs using eco friendly products when it comes to fashion. I can't wait to get my hands on the new look book! Take a look at our vid from the oh so fab FFP event.

MORE FASHON WITH OSCAR IN DC:
Washington, DC was very reminiscent of New York Fashion Week when designer extraordinaire, Oscar de la Renta visited Neiman Marcus in Mazza Gallerie and presented his Fall 2010 collection. The designer's appearance is courtesy of Washington National Opera and James Cornwell Styling & the Pr at Partners team who did a fabulous job on the hair!

RESTAURANT PICK OF THE WEEK: PIZZERIA PARADISO

Sometimes all I want is a low key night that involves beer and pizza, and at Pizzeria Paradiso I can hit two birds with one stone doing just that. I love the Georgetown location of this eatery because they have an extensive offering of beers( downstairs where it's nice and cool) @ the beer bar. Or head over to the Dupont location and order the tuna and white bean salad and the margherita pizza. And for those of you who are counting the carbs and watching your waist--order the wheat crust. Less calories and still so delicious! Oh are you a vegan? No worries they offer soy cheese as well. Ok I'm so hungry now, who wants pizza?!!!
